Allan Cameron
It has been said of many artists that one of the main distinctions between stardom and mediocrity is the “IT” factor. Allan John Cameron certainly has “IT”. During his eclectic career to date, many of his peers have also seen this in his performances and songwriting. From his work as lead guitarist and backing vocalist for Keith Urban (amongst other signed acts), the awards and acclaim he has earned, through to his previous publishing deal with Pacific Rim Music, Allan has exhibited his shining style and musical gift.
Born in Tamworth, Allan’s career began in the country genre and saw him work with the likes of Keith Urban and Lee and Tania Kernaghan. He also reached the finals in the coveted Toyota Starmaker Quest. However, Allan’s musical forays did not end there, as he went on to perform at many of the major venues around the nation as front man to a variety of Rock and MOR bands, including; ‘ Rusty and the Ayres Rockettes and Three Magic Words.
In addition, Allan has independently released two albums of original material – the last of which won him a Queensland Recording Association Sunnie Award for Best MOR Album, and was signed to a publishing deal (the term of which is now complete). In 2001 he also won the 96.5 FM Creative Challenge Award for Best Vocal Performance. When listening to Allan’s live, club/pub show, it is obvious that it represents the culmination of this vast experience and the development of his signature style. Allan’s cover repertoire runs the gamut from Elvis to Matchbox twenty, from country to disco and is tailored for the particular show Allan is performing.
